Team Notes
The Sooners went through their second practice of fall camp today. Through the first two days the strength and conditioning gains for several players have been evident
Expect Kip Lewis to be in the regular rotation at LB. The staff and Lewis worked hard over the summer period to put some bulk on Lewis’ frame and at the recent weigh-in Lewis registered 211 on the scale. Great news for Kip as he seeks a larger role this season.
PJ Adebawore is challenging to be no lower than second on the depth chart. PJ came in with high expectations from both fans and coaches, and checked in at 247 at the post-summer workout weigh-in.
Recruiting Notes
Going into Dominick McKinley’s unofficial visit to LSU last weekend, the thought among many sources was that if LSU was unable to make up significant ground in the recruitment then it might lead to McKinley moving up his commitment date. After the visit several sources have indicated that LSU thought they made some progress but were still behind both OU and Texas, and there are now reports that McKinley will indeed be committing before or even on the day his season starts in early September.
Williams Nwaneri has officially set his commit date for August 14th, and this continues to be a close race between Missouri and OU with both sides expressing confidence. In talking to sources over the last couple of days, OU remains confident and are reportedly using every option and tool at their disposal to maintain what they believe is the lead position in this recruitment. A lot can happen in the next 10 days, and this will no doubt be a roller-coaster ride as both Missouri and OU continue to make their case.
