Catching Up with Christian Thatcher

2025 four-star Linebacker Christian Thatcher made the trip from Las Vegas to Norman for a gameday visit this past weekend.

Thatcher told us in August he would be making it to Norman for an unofficial and said then, “I already know it’s going to be incredible. I’m just really looking forward to experiencing it.” Thatcher said this visit was, “Unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.”

He spoke more about his visit saying, “I’ve grown up going to UNLV games and I was blown away by how many fans were at the game hours before it even started. And even when I was walking to the stadium I had people yelling my name telling me to commit. The fan base is unreal. And then once the game started it was just a movie-like environment.”

In August, Thatcher said his sister had not made the trip to Norman yet. However, his whole family made the trip this time. “Yes, my whole family was with me. My sister has grown up coming and supporting our games. We all loved the game. She had a chance to at least get to meet Coach Roof and Skalski before the game. We will be out for another game and maybe she will get to meet coach V. But I know they are all busy on game days.”

“I feel like my style of play fits OU perfect,” said Thatcher. “I play physical fast football and I go 100% every play. Just the excitement of the game day atmosphere. Can’t beat it,” said Thatcher when asked about what he thought about Oklahoma’s defensive performance.

Thatcher was asked about Brent Venables’ visit policy, and he said, “I believe it’s a great policy. I also believe once you commit somewhere you stay to your word. No need to see what anyone else has.” Thatcher added, “The whole coaching staff preaches “family” If you commit to the family, that’s your family.”

Is there a timeline for a commitment from Thatcher? “At the very latest in spring, maybe as quick as next time I come out again,” he said
