Dillon Gabriel's struggles throwing to the middle of the field in particular have been well-documented and were a major point of emphasis during the QB's work this offseason.
Early returns during fall camp have been positive as Gabriel has shown more consistency and anticipation in his throws during practices and scrimmages.
When talking with sources around the program, there is an expectation of improved play overall from Gabriel. In our breakdown of the team's short yardage issues last season we highlighted how better execution in the short passing game is a major part of what's needed, and that has also been a focus for Gabriel and his receivers during summer walk-throughs and fall camp.
Ultimately the final piece of the puzzle is translating Gabriel's work on these areas from the practice setting to game situations and the extent to which he's able to do that will determine how OU's season goes.
