Sourced Notes
Heading into the more normal game week preparations now that school is getting ready to start, the depth chart on the offensive line seems to have taken shape.
The starting unit has consistently been:
LT - Rouse
LG - Byrd
C - Raym
RG - Mettauer
RT - Guyton
The most consistent second unit is made up of:
LT - Green
LG - Anderson
C - Everett
RG - Shaffer
RT - Taylor
The starting unit could be OU's best since 2018 if they live up to their on-paper potential. The second unit is full of young players who need more time to develop, so depth will be an issue especially while the team waits for Jacob Sexton to be fully cleared for game action around week 3 or 4.
If you're looking for a candidate for "most improved" then Mettauer might just compete for that distinction. Mettauer has put in extensive work over the offseason to improve his footwork and overall strength, and a move to RG seems to be the more natural position for him as opposed to LG where he played the majority of the '22 season.
Overall, the name of the game will be to gel early and avoid injury bug. If that happens it will go a long way to helping the Sooners achieve on the high end of their potential as a team.
